Just like Santa Claus, a barred owl flew down a chimney in Arlington this week, knocked the star from atop the family's Christmas tree and settled in as the new tree topper.
The barred owl "declared himself the newest star," the Animal Welfare League of Arlington said in a Facebook post, even knocking off the original star to make way for himself.
An animal control sergeant answered the family's call for help with their uninvited holiday guest, "gently capturing our feathered friend" and releasing him back into the night.
The welfare league said the owl encounter is a great reminder to keep your chimneys capped this season to prevent curious critters from coming to visit.

I would have paid to have this happen. Great photo.
