Girls on the Run Piedmont announced its Wicked Bottom Fun Run Festival will take place May 3.

Girls on the Run Piedmont has announced the reimagining of its Wicked Bottom 5K into the Wicked Bottom Fun Run Festival.

Set to take place on May 3 at Lenn Park in Culpeper, the festival will feature a variety of options for participants, including a timed 10K, a 5K with both timed and untimed options, and a 1/2 mile Fun Run, according to a news release from the organization.

“We’re honored to carry on the tradition of this cherished event while introducing a fresh perspective with ‘The Empowerment Zone’ at the heart of the festival,” Kathy Butler, Executive Director of Girls on the Run Piedmont, said in the release. “This is more than just a race—it’s an opportunity to inspire confidence, celebrate accomplishments, and show our community that every girl is capable of greatness.”

The festival will recognize the top three overall male and female runners in both the timed 10K and 5K events. Winners will receive event-branded trophies to commemorate their achievement.

In keeping with the inclusive and celebratory spirit of Girls on the Run, there will also be fun prizes announced soon for untimed participants.

Proceeds from the Wicked Bottom Fun Run Festival will directly support Girls on the Run Piedmont, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping girls in grades 3-8 build confidence, develop life skills, and discover their limitless potential through its research-based curriculum and physical activity.

Event highlights include the Empowerment Zone: The festival’s central hub; a 10K timed run, 5K untimed fun run and 1/2 mile fun run

The event is made possible through the support of Culpeper County Parks and Recreation and Old House Vineyards.

All are welcome to run, walk, cheer or volunteer for the event. Registration is open now at www.gotrpiedmont.org/5k.

Founded in 2013, Girls on the Run Piedmont aims to empower girls in 3rd through 8th grade with life skills, confidence and physical fitness through lessons and activities. The program culminates in a celebratory 5K event where girls celebrate their progress and potential.
