Snow Emergency generic

The Prince William County school division says it is developing future snow emergency bus routes as weather closures this week stretched into a fourth day.

School officials mentioned the emergency routes in a Facebook comment Wednesday evening announcing that schools would be closed again Thursday.

"PWCS identified for [the Virginia Department of Transportation] as many as 50 roads with poor conditions impacting several hundred bus routes," the school division wrote Wednesday evening.

While VDOT is working to improve those roads, the school district is encouraging the community to clear their sidewalks, neighborhood bus stops and community walkways.

"To move more quickly to normal operations in future weather events, PWCS is developing snow emergency routes for some bus routes; additional details on these routes will be shared in future communication," the comment said.
