Oakendale Farm, a 435-acre estate in The Plains, is set to be auctioned this month through Concierge Auctions.
Located at 2227 Penny Lane, the property will be offered in cooperation with John Coles of Thomas & Talbot Estate Properties and Laura Farrell of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty.
Listed for $19.6 million, bidding is expected to start between $5 million and $9 million. Bidding opens on Jan. 16 and will conclude during a live auction in New York City on Jan. 29.
Built in 1938, the Colonial Revival stone manor was designed by architect William Lawrence Bottomley and constructed by builder W.J. Hanback. It features wide walnut flooring, a curved staircase and French doors leading to the gardens. Additional amenities include a pool, pool house, five-bay garage, greenhouse and various outbuildings, including a guest house and historic log cabin.
“Oakendale Farm exemplifies Colonial Revival architecture at its finest,” Coles said in a news release. “The auction format provides an exceptional platform to connect this significant estate with buyers seeking both heritage and lifestyle—individuals who can truly appreciate the architectural pedigree and Virginia Hunt Country’s timeless appeal.”
The second level of the manor includes a primary suite with a private porch, sitting room and two full baths. There are also three additional bedrooms with en-suite baths and a two-bedroom suite with a sitting room and kitchenette.
In addition to the manor house, the property comprises two tax parcels, 333.19 acres and 102 acres, protected by a Virginia Outdoors Foundation easement. This preservation effort safeguards the estate’s scenic and historic significance.
“Oakendale Farm is an exceptional blend of historic architecture and modern luxury, set within one of Virginia’s most desirable locales,” said Farrell. “Its proximity to Middleburg and the Orange County Hunt territory makes it a haven for those who enjoy the outdoors and equestrian pursuits. This auction presents a unique opportunity for a new owner to acquire a piece of Virginia’s rich history.”
The estate is just minutes from Middleburg and offers easy access to hiking trails, equestrian facilities, vineyards and historic towns. Dulles International Airport is a 45-minute drive.
The sale will be part of Concierge Auctions’ Key For Key program in partnership with Giveback Homes, which funds the construction of new homes for families in need.
